2 Downview Road Barnham

The original house was a typical Edwardian house, with small and quite awkwardly arranged rooms, with no interaction with the garden.

The clients had four young children and needed more space, with more opportunity to make use of the garden. They wanted a large kitchen family room, two more bedrooms and another bathroom.

An extension was added to the side of the house to provide the additional accommodation. A new spiral staircase and gallery links the new and existing spaces.

From the outside, the extension was detailed to match the existing house but the interior was designed to be more contemporary. The layout was opened up... so large that the children could ride their bicycles around indoors!

Glazed walls and a large rooflight with motorised opening lights ensured that the spaces were flooded with natural light.
