Street House Itchenor

When the current owners bought it, the accommodation was extremely limited, particularly on the first floor where there where only 2 large bedrooms.

The brief was to extend the house to create a total of 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, and to improve the size and quality of the living accommodation below. The aims were was also to simplify and open out and of the entrance areas and circulation spaces, introducing as much natural light as possible, and to retain and improve the original character of the house.

The original roof was clay tiled, with varying eaves heights, and corniced eaves.

The walls were white painted brickwork.

The extended roof retains the character and scale of the original, and includes new dormer windows, with timber casement windows. At the front of the house, the painted brickwork walls are offset by a new porch with traditionally detailed oak framing.

The new interior spaces, which are fresh bright and airy, are a huge improvement on the original very dark and awkwardly laid out spaces.
