Vikings Canute Bosham

When our clients invited us to look at Vikings, which they had just acquired, they described it as the ugliest house in Bosham.

Our brief was to rearrange the accommodation to create fewer, larger rooms, to extend the house at the west end to enlarge the master bedroom suite, to introduce more light, to improve the appearance of the house and if possible to create a look out area with a view over the harbour.

As well as completely rearranging the accommodation, the entrance area was completely rebuilt. The new cedar front door, which is set into a glazed screen, opens into a light double height entrance hall with a new steel and glass staircase.

The glass balustrade continues around the galleried first floor areas. There is a long gallery which provides access to the master bedroom which has views down over the kitchen, and the Living Area is open to the landing and has views over the entrance hall and kitchen, and out over the garden.

The result is a really contemporary house. The rooms are bright and spacious and, complemented by the landscape scheme, the house sits well on the site.
