The Beeches Itchenor

The Beeches was an unmodernised 70's build house with a flat fronted facade and unimaginative layout; with small rooms, low ceilings and avocado suites. Our client required extending and modernising to create a contemporary open plan scheme suitable for a family of school and university age children.

The red brick exterior was updated using quantities of low maintenance cedar panelling (fading to grey with weathering). Windows were replaced by wide paned, grey powder coated aluminium panels. Depth and visual interest were added through a two storey glass front entrance opening to the front hall and a glass panelled staircase.

The free standing garage was visually integrated to the house using cedar panels and grey sliding doors, and linked internally to provide teenagers with a TV/gaming room.

A two storey extension to the rear of the property facilitated a complete reworking of the original interior layout. By removing walls and incorporating extensive use of glass sliding doors, the large family living/dining space becomes the focus of the house. Sliding panelled doors provide the ability to create smaller spaces within the main L shaped room. Upstairs, four bedrooms and two bathrooms (one en-suite) complete this modern family home.
