New build

Samphire Itchenor

The brief to JJA was to extend and update the existing 1970's style bungalow to provide a comfortable home for a large, active family with teenage children. Through the design and planning process it became clear that it would be necessary to rebuild the property to best achieve the brief.

The new build house is designed along traditional lines in compliance with other properties in the area. Three separate roof lines give visual interest while keeping the main ridge height in line with neighbouring properties. The house is accessed by a traditional low fenced front porch. A two storey entrance hall opens to a light, modern family kitchen, dining and sitting space; all enclosed to the rear in glazed doors leading to a stone terrace along the full width of the house, and beyond to the expansive garden views.

The house uses traditional, natural and hard wearing materials in keeping with a maritime environment including painted timber boarding to the external walls, plain clay tiles to the pitched roof and white painted timber windows.
